I just finished attempting to read Simon Sebag Montefiore's book called "Young Stalin".
I got through two thirds of it and put it down .
As a novel , it might have been entertaining , but as a work of scholarly research, it's trash.
When you have access to old russian archives , there is no need to speculate with "probablies" and "maybes" . Plus , this creep was far too obsessed with the sex lives of old Bolsheviks . There was speculation on every second page , with "she probably did this" or "he probably did that". I couldn't stand it any longer. It will be out of my house soon. This just shows, you can't trust the reviewers and critics .
