Israeli forces carried out 453 incursions into Syria, killed 69 people and left 35 detainees unaccounted for, a rights group reported.
Key Developments
- The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented at least 453 Israeli ground incursions and 69 killings between December 2024 and October 2026.
- Israeli forces detained at least 162 people, releasing 127, while the fate of another 35 remains unknown to their families.
- The report also documented home demolitions, land-leveling operations and hundreds of Israeli airstrikes across several Syrian provinces.
Israeli forces carried out at least 453 ground incursions into Syrian territory and killed at least 69 people between December 8, 2024, and October 6, 2026, according to a human rights report.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the incursions and other Israeli violations following the fall of Syria’s former government, Syrian broadcaster Al-Ekhbariya reported on Thursday.
The incursions were concentrated in the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, with additional operations recorded in the Damascus countryside.
The report also documented arbitrary detentions, civilian home demolitions, land-leveling operations and extensive Israeli airstrikes across Syria.
Detentions and Killings
The Syrian Network for Human Rights recorded at least 162 cases of arbitrary detention by Israeli forces.
Of those detained, 127 were subsequently released.
The fate of the remaining 35 detainees remains unknown to both the organization and their families.
The report did not provide complete details concerning the identities or circumstances surrounding the deaths of the 69 people killed during the reporting period.
Israeli incursions have repeatedly involved raids on villages, temporary checkpoints, searches of civilian homes and the detention of residents in southern Syria.
The operations have taken place amid an expanded Israeli military presence inside Syrian territory beyond the occupied Golan Heights.
Homes Demolished, Land Leveled
The rights organization documented the demolition of at least 15 civilian homes after Israeli forces entered the village of Hamidiya in the Quneitra countryside.
It also recorded extensive land-leveling operations inside the Jabata al-Khashab Nature Reserve in northern Quneitra on October 17 and 18, 2025.
In late January, Israeli forces sprayed grazing land in Quneitra with an unidentified substance, according to the report.
The network said it was unable to determine the nature of the substance or its potential effects on the land, livestock and local communities.
Israeli forces resumed land-leveling operations on October 4 west of Al-Asha village and Al-Rafid town.
Such operations have intensified concerns that Israel is attempting to consolidate a long-term military presence and alter conditions on the ground in southern Syria.
Hundreds of Airstrikes
Beyond the ground incursions, the network documented hundreds of Israeli airstrikes across Syria.
The attacks targeted Damascus, the Damascus countryside, Hama, Latakia, Homs, Tartus, Sweida and Idlib.
The organization did not provide an exact number of airstrikes in its public data.
Israel has repeatedly bombed Syrian military facilities, airports, infrastructure and other sites while expanding its ground occupation in the south.
Its forces have maintained positions inside the UN-monitored buffer zone and surrounding areas since December 2024.
Violation of 1974 Agreement
On December 13, 2024, the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force said Israeli forces had entered the buffer zone and remained at several positions there.
UNDOF said the Israeli movements constituted a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel.
A UN report issued in September 2025 also documented Israel’s continuing military presence in the buffer zone and neighboring positions.
The report pointed to Israeli measures aimed at consolidating its presence in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and in additional Syrian territory entered after December 2024.
The 1974 agreement established a separation zone monitored by the United Nations following the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.
Damascus has repeatedly demanded that Israeli forces withdraw from Syrian territory and comply with the agreement.
