A group of volunteers for Revolution/revcom.us took up a project to compile statistics for the number of police murders since Eric Garner was murdered by the police in Staten Island, New York, with a chokehold on July17, 2014. What the research group has established so far is that in one month, from July 17-August 17, the police murdered 59 people—that amounts to just about two a day!
This is staggering and outrageous—showing that indeed, there IS an epidemic of police murders in the USA.
The group’s work is continuing to document lives stolen by the police since July 17 to the present and is asking readers to contribute to this work in progress. Send instances of police murder you know of, including ones to add to this list for July 17-August 17. Write torevolution.reports@yahoo.com. The world needs to know this AND people need to be a part of putting an END to this epidemic of police murder.
