A CITY IN SHOCK

Holy fuck, you don't ever hear about this kind of shit happening in Victoria.
We shouldn't be terribly surprised though.....

2 suspects dead, 6 police officers

wounded in exchange of gunfire

at Saanich, B.C., bank

Police say two suspects are dead, and six members of the Greater

Victoria Emergency Response Team are in the hospital following an

exchange of gunfire at a bank in Saanich, B.C., on Tuesday.

Officers will hold the scene overnight while the area remains closed off, Saanich police announced around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Homes and businesses near the bank, which were evacuated earlier

Tuesday due to the presence of a potential explosive device in a car

linked to the suspects, will remain evacuated overnight. The RCMP

explosive disposal unit is on the scene.

Police lifted a shelter in place advisory just after 6 p.m., saying there

was no further indication that a third suspect was involved.

No bank employees, customers or members of the public are

believed to have been injured.

Officers were called when two armed men believed to be wearing

body armour entered a bank on Shelbourne Street at approximately

11 a.m Tuesday.

WATCH | Police exchange gunfire with suspects outside Saanich

bank:

In a media briefing Tuesday afternoon, Saanich police Chief Dean

Duthie said the shooting started when the suspects left the bank,

creating a situation that was very dangerous for the public.

"I don't know who fired first at this point. But there were multiple

gunshots that were fired. And where we're at, I don't know."

Six officers were shot and taken to the hospital. Three of them are

members of the Saanich Police Department, and three are members

of the Victoria Police Department.

Police said three officers are expected to be released after treatment,

while three have sustained serious injuries and are in surgery.

"We are going to stay strong through this. We are going to care for

our members, care for their families ... and we are going to move

forward," said Duthie.

Duthie said he had never seen a situation like it in his 27 years

with the Saanich Police Department.

"From what I know about that chaotic, tragic, dynamic, violent scene,

the fact that no citizens were injured in any way is truly amazing."

The Bank of Montreal told CBC in an emailed statement it is deeply

saddened by the incident and thanked emergency responders for

their quick response.

"Our thoughts are with every person impacted by today's events."

What sounded like automatic gunfire

Cleo Gagner was getting into her car with her young son after visiting

a nearby veterinarian's office when she said she heard up to 50

gunshots from different guns and said it sounded like automatic

gunfire.

"It was terrifying. I've heard a gunshot or two before. I've never

heard that many."

She said a police vehicle pulled up beside her, an officer jumped

out with his gun drawn, and the police presence continued to escalate.

Gagner said she and her son went back into the vet's office, where

they sheltered in place with others.

Christopher Lee Ford, who lives near the bank, said he also heard

dozen of shots.

"My daughter was doing some school work at the table, and all of a

sudden, you just hear a hail of bullets," he said.

He said his family has evacuated the area and plans to stay with

family in another neighbourhood for the night.

Joan Flood lives across the street from the BMO.

She said after she heard the first gunshot, she looked out her

window to see police running across the front of the bank with

their guns drawn.

"At that time then, there were a lot of shots, lots and lots. I would

say it was automatic fire because they had big guns; they didn't

have handguns."

Flood said she saw a person come out from behind the bank.

"They were bent over a little bit. Then they crawled for a bit. Then

they lay there ... very soon it was all over except for the person

lying on the ground who was there for quite a while."

Provincial leaders express concern, gratitude

During a separate news conference this afternoon, Premier John

Horgan expressed his concern for the people in the area.

"My thoughts are with those who have been affected by violence in

my home community on Vancouver Island," he said.

Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth thanked the police in a

statement released Tuesday evening.

"Today is a powerful reminder of the crucial role police officers play

in keeping our neighbourhoods secure. My government and I deeply

appreciate their courage, professionalism and commitment."

Farnworth said the incident is ongoing and under active investigation.

Saanich police are asking anyone with video footage of the incident

to send it to them through their evidence submission portal.

GREEN DAY SUCK, BUT.....

Green day suck musically, but they hit this right on the fucking head:

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong

tells fans he's 'renouncing' his

U.S. citizenship over Supreme

Court ruling

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told London concert-goers that he is "renouncing" his United States citizenship in protest over the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Performing at London Stadium just hours after the majority-conservative court ruled that abortion rights are no longer protected, the 50-year-old rock star lashed out at the decision on Friday night.

"F*** America," Armstrong said on stage for the Hella Mega tour his band is headlining alongside Weezer, Fall Out Boy and others. "I'm f***ing renouncing my citizenship. I'm f***ing coming here."

As the crowd cheered in response, the California native carried on his diatribe.

"There's just too much f***ing stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f***ing excuse for a country," continued Armstrong, who at one point during the show had a Union Jack flag draped over himself. "Oh, I'm not kidding. You're going to get a lot of me in the coming days."

The Daily Mail reports that Armstrong also yelled "f*** the Supreme Court of America" before playing the 2004 hit "American Idiot," Green Day's response to the Iraq War and the media frenzy surrounding it.

Armstrong — who joins musicians like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, Megan Thee Stallion and more in condemning the Supreme Court ruling on stage — has previously described himself as politically independent. The singer hasn't shied away from calling out politicians, including former presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump. Most recently, Green Day has performed in front of a banner reading "F*** Ted Cruz," in reference to the Republican senator following the recent mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

A LESSON FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD

This is a lesson for everyone around the world struggling against oppression. Even when the odds against you seem impossible , the fight must continue . The enemy's strength is in their viciousness and hatred of the masses of people, whereas the strength of the Revolutionaries is in the unity of the masses and the fight for the poorest of the poor, condemned to the margins of society .
Enough.

Long live the Day of Heroism!

On 19 June 1986, the prisoners of war – communists, combatants and masses of the Communist Party of Peru – transformed the concentration camps of El Fronton, Lurigancho and Santa Barbara into the shining trenches of the People’s War in Peru against the cowardly planned genocide by the fascist APRA regime headed by Alan Garcia.

The prisoners of war fought with determination and indomitable courage against the police and armed forces sent to complete the reactionary genocide and end the rebellion with the use of ground troops, naval and aerial bombardment, dynamite, flamethrowers and all kinds of weapons. At the risk of their own lives, the more than 300 prisoners won a great political, military and moral victory for the class and the Communist Party of Peru, with indomitable courage and heroism that only the people’s war can produce.

On the other hand the fascist government of Garcia Perez, his ministers and the highest civil, military and ecclesiastical authorities, as well as the revisionists were bloodily beaten and proved once again that the reaction against the revolution will not hesitate to resort to the most horrible genocides and violate all its own laws and international treaties in order to save its system of oppression and exploitation.

The genocide was committed by the Peruvian reaction with the advice, support and complicity of the Yankee imperialists, the Russian and Chinese social imperialists, the German, French and Spanish imperialists, the Zionists of Israel and with the special and extraordinary support of the social democratic parties of that rotten and increasingly rotten “Second International” headed by Willi Brandt, which was celebrating one of its international conferences in Lima these days. These wretches were once again the bloodthirsty chain dogs fed with the blood of communists and revolutionaries, as in January 1919 in Germany with the murder of Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht and other communists loved by the people and the international proletariat. But as the experience of the world revolution and the Peruvian one shows: Blood cannot drown the revolution, it nourishes it.

What does the day of heroism give us?

Morale and freedom. An invincible morale, as a result of the embodiment of the ideology of the international proletariat – today Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, mainly Maoism, with the universal contributions of Chairman Gonzalo. No matter how deep and dark the dungeons, no matter how heavy the chains, this proletarian morale shatters them.

The shed blood of the heroes testifies that and how insight into necessity is real freedom and how by handling this, our freedom, reality can and will be changed, how the impossible becomes possible, how we can and will conquer the heavens.

This freedom is diametrically opposed to the bourgeoisie, which knows nothing higher than individual need, one’s own ego, at the centre of which must be personal existence as a basic requirement. This break with the old is decisive.

The new must assert itself, in us, in the communists, in those who have sworn to unhinge this world, who will bury this old society and build the new society. That is why the day of heroism is of such immense importance to us. Obviously, in the people’s wars being waged today by Communist Parties, in Peru, in India, in Turkey and in the Philippines, where every day Communists and masses are giving their lives in struggle, even more so where new people’s wars are being launched, where Communist parties and organisations are already waging armed struggles, but especially where the old one threatens not only corruption, torture and death, but rather the lure of a quiet life in peace, promising a supposed way out to those who are receptive to it.

Long live the day of heroism!
Unite under Maoism!
Forward to the Unified Maoist International Conference!

FATHERS DAY

One of the highlights of this year's Father's Day was an early morning skate with Hung, and also getting to see Gordon Head Fred.

It's great to see good people doing well , and being at the park that early is almost a spiritual experience. It's as close to meditation as I'm ever going to get ,or ever have been. Give it a try.
Good day to you.

FUCK YES

The Dayglos show last night was fucking awesome. It was a great turnout for a Monday night at the Upstairs Lounge, formerly known as Harpo's back in the day.

All of the bands fucking killed it . I went specifically to see Hung Up , and they lived up to my expectations . The Gnar Gnars were tight as fuck , and despite not loving their name, Citizen Rage won me over with their aggressive hardcore and great attitude .

The Dayglos played a mix of new and old , with the crowd going nuts for the classics . The new songs fucking shred also . I bought the latest CD , and you should too. You will dig it.

There was a real community vibe going on last night , and even with getting less than 4 hours of sleep, I regret nothing and would do it again in a fucking second.

Thank you and good night.

NECESSARY

Just like anyone else, I'm in need of distraction from time to time. Forgetting about work, debt, war, etc. is integral to decent mental health.
Today it was skateboarding with other old timers , and tomorrow night it'll be seeing The Dayglos with Citizen Rage, The Gnar Gnars and Hung Up, who are the real reason I'm going. They're a great new local band and worthy of support. Sure it's a Monday night , but it's an early one so stop fucking whining. Just drink less, assholes.
I'll see you there.

NO FUCKING DIFFERENT

Despite the "help" that Ukraine is getting from the u.s., it should be emphasized that the amerikkkans are no better or different than the fucking russians when it comes to invading and destroying other countries. In fact , the amerikkkans have the worst record of all, the fuckers. The russians are wrecking Ukraine , but the yanks have destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of "liberating" them . Look at the fucking mess the imperialists have left behind.
Death to imperialism, both russian and amerikkkan.

MORE TO COME

The last show we played we sold a few t-shirts, and as such we are running low. This time around we're taking the bold step of making them red with a black AK-47 logo on them. They are on the way . Look for them enxt show, whenever that may be. We are also going to have to talk about recording soon. There are too many songs to let sit any longer. I'd like the new release to be on CD, cassette, and also bandcamp. We'll see what happens.
Good day to you.

9 killed, more than 60 injured in Memorial Day weekend mass shootings
·3 min read

Amid calls for gun control after last week's massacre at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school, shots rang out across the country over the Memorial Day weekend, with more than a dozen mass shootings in the span of 72 hours.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, which tracks shootings in the United States, there were at least 14 "mass shootings" in the country over the weekend, from early Saturday to late Monday.

The archive defines a mass shooting as an incident in which "four or more people are shot or killed, not including the shooter."

At least nine people were killed in the shootings, with more than 60 injured, according to the organization's data.

A preliminary count found that gun violence — not just mass shootings — left at least 156 people dead and 412 injured from 5 p.m. ET Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, the archive said.

Among the shootings over the long weekend was one Monday night in Charleston, South Carolina. Multiple people were shot and at least three law enforcement officials were hurt after gunfire erupted in the city's downtown, according to police.

Earlier in the day, a shooting in Philadelphia left two women dead and two others injured.

Philadelphia police said they found the two women shot in the head in Port Richmond just before 1:30 a.m., NBC Philadelphia reported. Both women died at the hospital.

A teenager was also rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder in connection with the incident, while a man who was found shot a block away was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition, police said.

On Saturday night, six teenagers were hurt after gunfire broke out in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the city's mayor said.

In a post on Twitter, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly expressed anger and frustration over the incident.

"I am heartbroken for the families and the victims whose lives were upended last night by gunfire. No parent should ever have to get that call," he said.

"But I am also angry. Six teenagers were shot last night in what we believe was an altercation between other teenagers. And once again, I’m standing here in front of you talking about our community’s youth getting shot. That’s outrageous and it has to stop."

"It’s ridiculous that I even need to publicly state that guns have no place in the hands of our kids," Kelly said.

The spate of shootings over the Memorial Day weekend came amid growing calls for gun reforms in the wake of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on May 24 that left 19 children and two teachers dead.

On Monday, President Joe Biden pushed for a ban on assault weapons, saying: “It makes no sense to be able to purchase something that can fire up to 300 rounds."

“The idea of these high-caliber weapons — there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of, about self-protection, hunting and I guess — and, remember, the Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute," he told reporters outside the White House after traveling from Delaware. "You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed. You couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weaponry.”

The president and first lady Jill Biden visited Uvalde on Sunday, meeting with first responders and the families of those who lost children in the deadly shooting.
