FUCK YES

The 7th Annual Jay Brown Memorial/Hospice Benefit Show was fucking great, yet again. All the bands fucking killed it.
Orange Krush played their first show, and they were awesome. It's not pop as the name would suggest, although there is a fair bit of melody in the songs, as well as some lovely harmony leads on the guitars. This band is a Willy Jak production, with Mambo on lead vocals. See them next time they play. It'll be worth your while.
Car 87 pulled off their angry intense 80s style hardcore, making me feel like I was at the OAP Hall back in the day. Tight, aggressive, and in your face. I would love to play with them and Write Off one day, preferably an all ages show. They are not only a great band, but they are great people as well. Buy their record, assholes.
AWT were on their fucking game as well. Roy is possibly the best front man in this crackhole of a city we call Victoria, and Knuckles is one hyped up motherfucker on the bass. They are all excellent musicians. To be honest, I would never in a milion years write the lyrics that Roy does, but they are a fucking amazing live band, and believe it or not, Roy is one of the nicest guys I've met. See them also.
AK-47 had a great time playing, and I think people were surprised and amused that we ended our set with "Ain't 'Talkin' 'Bout Love" by Van Halen. Kent managed to be both Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth at the same fucking time. It was still fun to have vocal help from Hoon and Matt Lock (yes, it's his real name) for that song. 1700 bucks were raised for Hospice Victoria. Fuck yes.
Thank you to Hoon, Ange Trash, ALL of the bands, Scott Henderson for doing the  difficult job of doing sound for us, to everyone who comes out to listen to this fucking noise, and to Logan's, for letting this happen year after year.
Much love to you all, and see you next time.

NOTHING IS THAT EASY

Communists and Revolutionaries of various stripes have been accused of being "idealists", and believers in some or other form of utopia. You know, the "after the revolution, everything will be beautiful" type of glassy eyed asshole. Reality is far removed from this. The real work will start after the Revolution. It's the force of habit that is the  real source of dragging people back to the nightmarish crap of capitalism. We get used to doing the same shit, day in and day out, and can't even conceive of a life that's not about either struggling to get by, or accumulating money for money's sake. I'm keeping this brief, even though I could go on (and will, in real life), forever.

THE TRUE FACE OF DEMOCRACY

I saw a documentary two nights ago that represents the true face of amerikkkan democracy. It's called The Invisible War . It talks about rape within the military of the most democratic nation on earth. This horrific crime is not only common within their ranks, it is the norm to cover it up, deny it, and accuse the victims of lying. They are also threatened with death, and are often beaten as well. This is from Forbes Magazine:

In The Invisible War the facts presented are painfully clear. The Department of Defense estimates over 19,000 sexual assaults occurred in the military in 2010 alone. A conservative estimate states over 20% of women in the military will be sexually assaulted. According to the Service Women’s Action Network, in 2010, 108,121 male and female veterans screened positive for military sexual trauma. And yet, the film shows a military that refuses to take action, silencing survivors of sexual assault and sweeping accusations under the rug.

19,000 in one year alone!!! And they think they have the moral authority to tell the rest of the world how to live?! If they're doing this to their own, what the fuck do you think they're doing in foreign countries, where they have nothing but racist contempt for everyone living there? Predators, rats, and other filth are drawn to the military, and those who join to "make the world a better place" are either chewed up and shit out, or turn into one of these demented racist killers, travelling the globe on a mission for "freedom".

Now watch this clip from Bob Avakian .

TRUTH IN YOUR FACE

Here I'm going to repost something that I just put up today. It is part of a statement by the Revolutionary Communist Party/ Parti Communiste Revolutionnaire, concerning kkkanada's history, and the way things stand today, with regard First Nations people. To reiterate: Blockades and other inconveniences for white people are fucking NOTHING, when compared to the intentional genocide and land theft that the european settler colonialists perpretrated on the people ALREADY LIVING HERE!!! Columbus didn't fucking discover anything. That motherfucker had his fucking head up his asshole, and only looked upon the Native people as meek and humble, and that they would make good slaves. Fuck him, fuck thanksgiving, and fuck columbus day.
Canada, A Prison for the First Nations
- Excerpt from the Programme of the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR-RCP)
Canada, as the other states born of European colonialism in America, was built on violence, exploitation and oppression towards the First Nations. Before the arrival of the white man in Canada, more than a million Natives lived on these lands. The arrival of the French and the English, who brought war and disease, took its toll on the Native populations killing most of them. In some cases, 80%, 90% and even 95% of some Native communities perished. The Natives needed many centuries (up until now in fact) to rebuild their populations back to their original size.
Nowadays, their situation is still very precarious. Their living conditions leave them with poverty and misery. Their life expectancy is eight years lower than that of the average Canadian. Twice as many children die, as compared to the rest of the Canadian population. Their youth are seven times more likely to commit suicide. In most regions, their level of unemployment is three, even four times higher than the Canadian average.

FUCK YES

Here's an excellent article from the Comrades in the RCP/PCR Canada, Read it.
Self-determination for the First Nations!
Partisan #32 • January 11, 2013

The emergence of the “Idle No More” movement combined with the hunger strike launched by the Chief of the Attawapiskat band council, Theresa Spence put the liberation struggle of the First Nations back at the forefront of Canadian politics. As the year 2013 begins, this is certainly good news for all those who are oppressed by the Canadian bourgeoisie.
Various actions have multiplied across the country, including “flash mobs,” street demonstrations, teach-ins, and blockades of roads, bridges and railways... These actions show the strong presence of indigenous nations throughout Canada. They dramatically remind us that the whole Canadian state was built on the theft of the First Nations territories and the dispossession of their ancestral rights.
“Idle No More” was officially established last October, after the tabling of Bill C-45 (also called “Mammoth II”) by the federal government. This new law introduces a change in the consultation process of the band councils established under the infamous Indian Act, in order to facilitate the sale or lease of reserve lands. The initiators of the movement also oppose changes to the Navigable Waters Protection Act and more generally, the weakening of federal regulations protecting the environment and natural resources, which will have a very negative impact on the future of aboriginal communities.
Following the launch in mid-December of the hunger strike of the Attawapiskat Chief (a community located on the west side of James Bay in Northern Ontario), the “Idle No More” movement expanded to almost all indigenous communities. Grassroots activists from various communities, as well as the leaders officially recognized and appointed by the Canadian government at the head of band councils and major groups such as the Assembly of First Nations are both taking part in the movement. In this regard, Idle No More is certainly facing the same basic contradictions that also characterize the relationship between First Nations peoples and the Canadian state.
The current crisis of the world capitalist system, along with the intensification of rivalries between the great imperialist powers, are forcing the Canadian bourgeoisie to expand and accelerate its exploitation of the territory it occupies and controls —especially of natural resources, which are heavily concentrated but still not yet maximized in their exploitation, in Northern Canada. Therefore, the pressures are becoming stronger to weaken or even abolish the Indian Act, since it at least “protects” some territories coveted by major Canadian and/or transnational corporations.
We have thus arrived at this tragic situation where repealing this infamous law —which constitutes the legal basis for the denial of the rights of indigenous peoples in Canada— could result in a further weakening of those rights... In this context, it is difficult to figure how a unique meeting between the Harper government and officials of Indian bands could solve the fundamental issues raised not only in the past few weeks by Idle No More, but since the emergence of the national liberation movement of indigenous peoples 30 to 40 years ago.
For Maoists, the liberation struggle of indigenous peoples is at the heart of the fight against capitalism and the imperialist bourgeoisie in Canada. This country was founded on oppression, theft and genocide of the First Nations. And this has played a fundamental role in the process of capital accumulation and the formation and further development of an imperialist Euro-Canadian bourgeoisie. First Nations constitute “internal colonies” who play a similar role for the Canadian bourgeoisie that the Third World countries generally play for the imperialist countries.
First Nations peoples' struggle for liberation is an essential component of the revolution in Canada —which requires the destruction of the reactionary Canadian state. Proletarians and all those who want to get rid of the capitalist system have a common interest in supporting the struggle for complete self-determination for the First Nations. As it is unfolding and at some point may possibly triumph, this struggle will allow the emergence of a new revolutionary alliance of all the oppressed and exploited people here.
And here we are speaking of a genuine alliance: neither submitting to each other, nor even less expressing a cheap sense of “humanism,” but a revolutionary alliance to end a system and smash a state that spawned and still commits the most atrocious crimes. The dedication of communist revolutionaries in this struggle is firm and resolute, as we are convinced that that “No nation can be free if it oppresses other nations” and that the revolution alone will set us free!

The living conditions on the reserves are harsh. The governments in Canada have clearly demonstrated that they are unable to solve this problem. The development of the Native struggles and their radicalization, as well as the constitutional stalemate and the dead end in negotiations around their territorial rights, have reached an explosive point.
Today in Canada, there are more and more Native struggles and Native movements putting forth their claims. This is a very important component of the current political situation. Despite the policies of assimilation and of genocide towards the Native people that have permitted Canada to become a powerful capitalist country, they have never ceased in waging struggle. Their fierce resistance, the struggle of the Mohawks in 1990, of the Ipperwash in Ontario, of Gustafsen Lake in British Columbia, the various constitutional crises in Canada, reminds us of this reality. In the last 12 years particularly, new forces have arisen amongst them and are becoming stronger and stronger. Because of those currents, their movements tend to be more radical and directed against the bourgeoisie and its state. We support and defend those currents. The revolutionary proletariat must forge an alliance with the First Nations and unite with them in a great movement of struggle against the Canadian imperialist bourgeoisie.

FUCK YOUR LAWS, AND FUCK GENOCIDE

The recent "Idle No More" movement for Native Rights has brought out the brutal ugliness of racism in kkkanadian society. A highway is peacefully blockaded for one hour. Big fucking deal. People living in absolute poverty, dealing with addictions and all of the twisted shit that comes with that, including suicide, rape, and of course the racism from the rest of society etc., due to the continuing colonial relationship that Native people have been enduring for hundreds of years now, is something real to fight back against. There have been comments from stupid white people about how the Native people will never win their support with such "militant tactics". Who gives a fuck? Who wants your support, you fucking chickenshit? All you give a fuck about is where you need to be, without any real concern for the suffering of others. Why the fuck should anyone pander to you? And I'm also done with all of the "everyone in this country has the same opportunity" rhetoric. It's a fucking lie. People coming from those conditions of absolute shit, and people of any colour coming from these kinds of living conditions, are not going to have the same opportunity as the rest of comfortable middle class suburbia, those fucking whiny keepers of the status quo. Fuck 'em. Here's the article from that piece of shit paper, the times colonist...

Idle No More protests just the beginning, B.C. chief says

Idle No More protests are the start of a larger movement that will bring together a broad cross-section of First Nations and non-indigenous communities, Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs president Stewart Phillip predicted Wednesday.
“I think people are starting to connect the dots and understand this is about a humanitarian crisis and crushing poverty in aboriginal communities, but also very much about the environment,” said Phillip, who was in Greater Victoria for the Idle No More demonstration that blocked the Patricia Bay Highway on Wednesday.
The crossover between the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline protests and Idle No More demonstrations show an increasing number of people are trying to defend Canada’s environment in the face of the Harper government’s omnibus bills, Phillip said.
“This is international in scope. There’s a reawakening around the world about these fundamental issues,” he said in an interview.
Speaking to the crowd blocking the highway, Phillip said like-minded Canadians are standing in solidarity across the country.
“All of us have marked this day to serve notice again to Prime Minister Harper that we absolutely reject this government’s Bill C-38 and Bill C-45 that are designed to sell out the environmental values and democratic values of this country to big industry and big oil,” he said.
The omnibus bills contain changes to more than 90 laws, including the Navigable Waters Protection Act, Fisheries Act and Environmental Assessment Act.
To cheers from demonstrators, Phillip reiterated support for Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, who is refusing solid food until Harper and Gov. Gen. David Johnston agree to a treaty meeting with First Nations leaders.
Phillip said support for Spence continues despite what he called a government smear campaign to discredit her.
“Our support for her is unwavering, and we will stand with her for as long as it takes for this government to understand they must sit down with her and discuss the humanitarian crisis,” he said.
“We know this is not about public opinion. It is about doing what is right.”
Phillip shrugged off any suggestion there are fractures in First Nations leadership in Canada, although there is disagreement among chiefs about Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo’s meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
“It’s a very racist notion to suggest that all indigenous people should be of the same mind,” Phillip said.
UBCIC vice-president Bob Chamberlin told demonstrators that everyone must send a message to Harper that he is not above the law.
“He can’t ignore the Canadian constitution or rulings of the Supreme Court of Canada. They are fundamental pieces of something called democracy,” he said.
As the movement grows, an uncomfortable message has to be sent to Canadians and the international community about conditions in First Nations communities, Chamberlin said.
“People must understand oppression begins with the Canadian government,” he said.
After the end of the demonstration, Tsartlip elder Tom Sampson asked a question that’s on many minds.
“What next?” said Sampson, who has studied the English laws that formed the basis of Canadian law.
“The tribes know what we have to do and if [the government] doesn’t listen, it will force the tribes into an awkward situation,” he said. “We have to strike back. It’s not about us anymore, it’s about Canadians, and we have to stand up for our rights.”

REASON ENOUGH

This is a world marked by profound injustice, many of which most of us do not even bother to think about from the comfort of our western living rooms, even those nightmarish things happening close to home. But everything is interconnected. There is always a link from the horrifying bullshit happening here, to the crimes happening "over there". Take for example the degradation of women. From pornography to the selling of every fucking product under the sun (including their own bodies), the overwhelming message is the same. And this is the same whether we are here, or in Pakistan. Sunsara Taylor brings this together like no one else can. Please read this article. Every syllable in it rings with truth. And then stand up against this shit.

From Delhi to Ohio and Around the World:
If You Are Not Fighting Rape, You Are Condoning It!
We Need Revolution and a Whole New World!

by Sunsara Taylor | January 13, 2013 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

On Dec. 16, 2012, a 23-year-old medical student was kidnapped, repeatedly gang-raped and tortured on a bus in Delhi, India, which had been taken over by six men. She was raped repeatedly, beaten viciously, and penetrated by a rusty iron rod which ruptured her internal organs. By the time her rapists dumped her naked body under an overpass, along with her male companion who had sustained broken bones and a severe beating, 95 percent of her intestines had been pulled out of her body. Her rapists attempted to run her over with the bus, but her companion managed to pull her out of the way. Still, her ordeal was not over. For nearly two hours, as blood poured from her body, medical treatment was delayed—first as passersby refused to stop and then as police delayed and debated over whose jurisdiction and responsibility she was. On December 29, after 13 days of emergency surgeries and medical attention, she died.
On August 11, 2012, a 16-year-old girl in Steubenville, Ohio, passed out at a party. While she was unconscious, the stars of the local football team stripped her naked, raped her, and goaded party-goers into urinating on her while crowds looked on. They dragged the unconscious girl to three different parties, violating her throughout the night. In cellphone footage taken that night, one of those at the scene can be seen laughing and joking about the rape of the girl. Referring to the fact that she was unresponsive as this assault went on, he jokes, "Is it really rape, cuz you don't know if she wanted it or not. She might have wanted it. That might have been her final wish." While this girl did not, in fact, die, a group of guys can be heard laughing as one of them goes on for a full 12 minutes saying things like, "She is deader than OJ Simpson's wife," and, "She is deader than Trayvon Martin."
How different are these two stories, really?
The cold truth is that today there is not a single place on the planet where it is safe to be female.
There is no place—on the street or in one's home, in a rural Third World countryside or in the major cities of the imperialist citadels, from Delhi to Congo to Ohio and everywhere else—where women and girls are not in danger of being raped. Where women and very young girls are not then blamed and devalued for being raped. Where women and girls are not told to "get over it" when they are raped. Where women are not reduced to breeders of children—shamed, coerced or forced into bearing children against their will. Where abortion and even birth control is not either illegal or seriously under attack. Where women and very young girls are not oppressed, beaten, imprisoned, insulted, molested, abused, harassed, exploited, murdered, spat upon, thrown acid at, groped, shamed or otherwise systematically diminished.
But this violence and degradation, all this cruelty and viciousness, is not just the depraved behavior of a handful of men. Nor is this just "human nature."
This is the nature of many men as they are shaped by the system we now live under, the global system of imperialism, which has patriarchy—the domination of women by men—woven into its foundation, its traditions, its "morals," and its culture. This violence is a direct and inevitable outgrowth of a system that feasts off of and requires the subjugated and degraded position of women in both its feudal/ medieval forms and in its so-called "modern" forms.
And this violence and hatred of women is fostered and CELEBRATED in one of the most mainstream cultural cornerstones of U.S. society today and one of the biggest industries in the world: pornography and the sex industry.
It is no coincidence that pornography has become more and more violent, degrading and cruel even as it has become more and more mainstream. It is not a coincidence that one of the most popular forms of pornography today is rape porn—and gang-rape in particular!
These rapes cannot be separated from the larger relations in the world where millions of women and young girls every year are kidnapped, tricked, sold by starving families, and beaten into the global web of sex slavery—and where millions of men have been conditioned to see women as nothing more than flesh to be consumed, defiled, brutalized, and discarded.
If there were nothing else wrong with this system, this alone would be reason enough to rise up and make revolution to sweep this system—with its celebration of woman-hating and horrific suffering it causes—off the face of the earth! And anyone who dreams of a better world must take up this fight.
As Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, has put it:
"You cannot break all the chains, except one. You cannot say you want to be free of exploitation and oppression, except you want to keep the oppression of women by men. You can’t say you want to liberate humanity yet keep one half of the people enslaved to the other half. The oppression of women is completely bound up with the division of society into masters and slaves, exploiters and exploited, and the ending of all such conditions is impossible without the complete liberation of women. All this is why women have a tremendous role to play not only in making revolution but in making sure there is all-the-way revolution. The fury of women can and must be fully unleashed as a mighty force for proletarian revolution."
It is URGENT that this fury come forth—and it is a tremendous, and tremendously important, thing that this has begun to erupt throughout India!
For weeks, thousands of women as well as a significant number of men in India have been rising up in furious revolt against this recent gang-rape and death and the whole culture of misogyny it concentrates. For weeks, women's fury has poured out. Fury at having to live in fear every day of being attacked and raped. Fury at the way so many men treat public spaces as free-for-all zones for groping and harassing women. Fury at the way women are shamed and blamed if they are the victims of rape and other assaults. Fury at the way law enforcement ignores rape and protects rapists—where often it is the law enforcement, military and political officials themselves who are the rapists! Fury at the fact that in every realm of society, women are degraded and demeaned, devalued and brutalized, shamed and judged, treated like property and exploited and oppressed.
One of the most common things women are saying is, "This girl could have been me, it could have been any of my friends, and no one would have taken us seriously."
Through their fierce struggle, through their rage and defiance, these women and men are finally being taken seriously! They have faced down police wielding batons, water cannons and pepper spray. They have fought off sexual assault by reactionary men who went into the crowds to try to stop them. In fact, all this only made them more angry and made their protests more powerful!
Just, three weeks ago, almost none of these women themselves had any idea how furious they were. Three weeks ago, almost no one had any idea of the potential for growing numbers of men to stand up together with them. Make no mistake: the same depth of fury among women and potential among men exists within women and men the world over, but it will never come to the surface if we do not fight for it.
It is urgent that people everywhere stand with the women rising up in India. Their struggle is our struggle—the women there are our sisters!
It is urgent that we bring to people who are rising up an understanding of the genuine communist revolution as BA has re-envisioned it that is needed—and possible!—to get rid of the scourge of rape throughout the world. A good place to start is by digging into and spreading A Declaration: For Women's Liberation and the Emancipation of All Humanity.
Finally, it is urgent that we take a lead and inspiration from the unleashed anger in India to bring the same to the surface here in this country and everywhere else on this planet. We must take the responsibility to unleash this fury as a mighty force for the most radical and liberating revolution in human history—fighting today to put an end to the constant abuse and degradation of women, the whole culture of rape and pornography that stalks and endangers women, the whole vicious assault on women's right to birth control and abortion—as we build up the strength to put an end to this madness, here and all over the world, once and for all through communist revolution at the soonest possible time!

From Delhi to Ohio and Around the World—If You Are Not Fighting Rape, You Are Condoning It!
Stop Watching Porn—Start Fighting Patriarchy!
Unleash the Fury of Women as a Mighty Force for Revolution!

PLEASE NOTE, ASSHOLES

I've just received word that the Jay Brown Memorial Show has been changed from Friday the 25th, to SATURDAY JANUARY THE 26TH, still at Logan's, and still with the great bands I mentioned in a previous post. Orange Krush, Car 87, AWT, and us, AK-47. I wouldn't want any of you pricks to miss out.

Tuesday 8 January 2013

EXCUSES AND DELAYS

I'm sorry for the delays in posting this month/year, but here are the excuses...Christmas, Family, work work and more work, songwriting, getting to see Jay and Andrea (fuck yeah! And listen to Vile Intent , you motherfuckers. The new tape, "Skin In The Game" is fucking awesome, and is both black and white!), and I got disgustingly fucking ill for the first time in fucking years. Boo fucking hoo. Onwards.
I'm more hyped for the Jay Brown Memorial Show than most of you fucking dicks get for stupid new year's. I mean, Car 87 from Vancouver are the shit (reminding one of Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Negative Approach), and Orange Krush (one of Willy Jak's twenty bands), has Mambo on lead vocals. For those who haven't had the pleasure of hearing and seeing him live, he can kill it. It's good to see him back in the game, and no, they are not sweet syrupy pop music as their name would suggest. Maybe you should just stay home. And AWT are an institution in this town by now. As obnoxious as their lyrics and Roy can be, is exactly how nice they are in reality. But it fucking works. Just don't fuck with them. Rule #1: Don't fuck around. That's it. Just don't. Besides those bands and AK-47, I'm not sure if anyone else is playing. That's enough though, right? Right. Fuck you, the comments option is off, and forever will be. E-mail me if you need to, though. Or don't. And one more thing, especially for those who don't like politics....
"Do we have to keep hearing the mantras about ' Making democracy work', when in fact it works exactly in the U.S. the way it's supposed to work-that is, it's a cover for the dictatorship of the ruling class. It's a means of drawing the masses of people into things on the terms of the ruling class and paralyzing them from being able to see-let alone fight back against, and finally to uproot and eliminate-the real causes and the real relations that actually do enslave masses of people throughout the world".
-Chairman Bob Avakian, from "What Humanity Needs- Revolution, and The New Synthesis of Communism."
Thank you all for reading, and coming out to the shows.

2013

New Year's Eve celebrations and people making fake-ass resolutions that they are maybe going to keep for a month are stupid and meaningless. I just hope that this year has a lot less sad, unfortunate young deaths than 2012 had. Such things are totally out of our control (for the most part), but we can do our best to reach out to those friends (and others), who are in obvious distress. Too often we just say " He/she'll get over it", and walk away, only to feel guilty when something actually does happen.
I also hope that the Revolutionaries in various countries continue to make inroads and advances against this hideous hellbeast called capitalism/imperialim, on top of which all of these twisted social relations between the people arise and thrive. Yes, I support various parties and groups who might actually be antagonistic towards each other, but that's the way it is. Fuck it. Let our actions and the way people respond to us be the basis for any judgement levelled aginst us. Fuck the internet "parties" and keyboard warriors. They can fucking rot and fester in cyberspace. Pathetic ignorant haters that they are.
AK-47 will be releasing recorded product this year, and we are looking forward to what usually ends up being the craziest and most energetic show of the year, the Jay Brown Memorial Hospice Benefit, this year being held on  Saturday, January the 26th at (where else?), Logan's. We look forward to seeing you all there. Much love, motherfuckers.
