THREE BOOKS

For what it's worth, this is what I've been reading in the last little while....
The novel pictured just above is a biblically themed story that won Par Lagerkvist the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1951. It is an intense read, full of Barabbas's inner struggle over having been let go so Jesus could be crucified. Read it.

I've also been reading ( slowly ) "Khrushchev Lied " by Grover Furr, who spent a decade studying previously secret Soviet archives, putting the lie to all of the misinformation that's taken as "common knowledge" about Stalin and his times by EVERYONE today. Of course, you're always going to get the " how can you defend that monster!" sort of hysterics from idiots, but this man has done his research. Read this fucking book, assholes. Shut up until you know what the fuck you're talking about.
Mr. Furr is a professor of Medieval English at Montclair State University in New Jersey.

And I'm re-reading "Bosnia and Hercegovina : A Tradition Betrayed" by Donia and Fine. It's an excellent scholarly work about a region that people are all too willing to dismiss as full of " centuries old hatred". Again, they have done the work and know their shit. Of course I don't agree with every last syllable of this book, but it is worth your time.
Read motherfuckers, read !
