One thing I've always loved about punk is that ego is not considered a normal part of the scene. It is more of an aberration, unlike other music genres where gross decadence and inflated chest thumping is acceptable and part of the culture.
That being said, some people do develop attitudes that contradict this , but we don't live in a bubble, and the society at large is bound to have an influence on everybody, really.
The point is that it's not taken as normal within punk rock and hardcore.
I am always grateful and humbled when people appreciate our music . It inspires me to continue trying to be the best I can be , and to support others being creative also.
