DISBELIEF

I've been listening to Lesbian Fist Magnet a lot lately , fronted by Ange of course. I can't believe I'll never hear her voice in person again.....

STILL MOURNING

I am sorry I missed the Ange Trash/Aaron Foster Memorial Show on Saturday night. There were family circumstances that were beyond my control, but I hear that it went off great , and there were tears and laughter in abundance.

I just can't get this tragedy out of my head . Like anything, it will take time.
I hope you all are doing well.....

SURPRISINGLY UPBEAT

It was a surprisingly upbeat weekend considering the events of the past few days. I made it a point to connect with people who are as bummed about Ange's passing as I am.

Saturday night I saw the Misfits tribute band "She" play, with the fabulous Kate on vocals . They were great of course. Following was Zero Coping Skills, and they grow on me more and more each time I see them. Melodic well intentioned punk rock, and I've seen them do both a Lil' Nas X cover and Gorilla Biscuits as well ! Now that's versatility. This was at The Quadra House. I love that this place exists . Thank you for doing what you do, and consistently at that.

I then went up to The Phoenix to see Knife Manual , and they fucking gave 'er. It's going to be the last show they play for a few months, and they played like it. Intense and energetic, they tore the roof off the place.

The night was full of hugs and people supporting each other through some rough times. Angela would have wanted us to keep rocking no matter what.

I will see you all at the next show.

TOMORROW

I'm still reeling from the sad news.
I am going to hit a couple of shows tomorrow to connect with people who I know are feeling the same way.
It's less a "misery loves company" thing than a mutual support and love thing.
We all know each other because of this loud abrasive music.
I'll see some of you this weekend.

SO UNBELIEVABLY SAD

This morning I was informed that Ange Trash has passed away.
She was Jay Brown's widow, and one of the best people I have known.
From the quiet innocent nurse she once was, to the screaming powerhouse fronting Lesbian Fist Magnet , she was always a lovely person.
She had her battles like so many do, but I thought she had left that behind her. This teaches me to take nothing for granted, no matter what it is . I still can't believe that it's true.
I already miss you, Angela. Goddammit.
Take care and be good to each other.

OH MY GOODNESS

It certainly was a night to remember . I had never seen GG Allin in person, even though I'm more than old enough to have been able to, but I also was never really a fan of his for so many reasons. So why the fuck was I at The Phoenix last night to see Bloody Betty do a GG tribute ? For the sheer spectacle and entertainment of it all, of course. And holy crap did she ever pull it off. Fake crap, urine, and blood kept people happy . It's what they expected , obviously, and who wants to go away disappointed ? They were not. Not to mention the excessively rude banter, which was perfect for what was going on. Musically, the band pulled it off , despite having practiced maybe three times ? Then again, Willy and Dustin are pros , and fans of GG.

Before that all happened, there was Klawalka, doing their chicken headed metal craziness , and also The Party Animals, a Turbo Negro tribute band, both fronted by Brainz of The Gnar Gnars. I couldn't believe his voice held out for all of that, and his energy was there for both bands. No fucking holding back, that's for sure.

It was a terrific night, and you should have been there.
Maybe next time.
Good night.
