The Poison Idea show on Saturday night was fucking awesome. Sadly, I missed Legion Of Goons, who are currently one of my favourite hardcore bands out of Vancouver, but I managed to catch The Frostbacks, who were the tightest I've ever seen them. They pulled off a great set of Ramones and Forgotten Rebels influenced punk rock, and kept their coats on for almost the entire set! I'd be dying up there.
I had built up Poison Idea so much in my mind, that I thought there was nowhere to go but down. I was so happy to be wrong. They hit the stage and kept up a punishingly loud set for about 45 minutes or so. I can only describe them as being an unstoppable force. They played hit after hit, and the lead guitarist looked like the kind of guy who would've been more into Molly Hatchet than hardcore, but he was fucking amazing. Great turnout, and like any show like this, it was wonderful to see so many people I haven't seen in years. Poison Idea are one of those bands who have influenced thousands of hardcore, punk, and metal bands over the years, and Saturday showed us all why this is the case. You are truly sad if you missed it. Fuckers.
